Our history

turnzaal.jpg

Since its foundation in 1908, the Institute for Physical Education at UGent has traditionally focused on training physical education teachers. Due to the spirit of the founding period, the training was biomedically oriented. The biomedical basis has remained, but has gradually been complemented by a not inconsiderable contribution from other fields of science. In 2015, the Sport Science Laboratory Jacque Rogge was opened.
